Mommy & Daddy

So a wonderful thing happened on the way to the sprinkler.

Last week it was HOT (90+ degrees). We talked with the 3-yr-old about it being hot and asked if he'd like to wear his swim trunks, which he was very eager to do. We hooked up the sprinkler in the backyard and threw the kids into their swim trunks. They had never seen a sprinkler before, I'm pretty certain. Upon being prompted to, the 3-yr-old ran happily toward the spraying water, stood there for about 30 seconds, and then came running back to me, just devastated, crying and saying "I'm wet!", looking down at the bottom of his trunks.

I laughed and said, "Great! Go do it again!" And he did.

But that wasn't the wonderful thing.

He called me Mommy. Just Mommy.

And later in the week, he called Nick "Daddy". Just Daddy.

Enough said.

This was taken at our neice's Dedication on Monday (5/24/10).

  2. That just makes a heart happy!

  3. You know how you have the options on the bottom... educational, funny, interesting... you should also add heart warming. :)
    So happy for you.

  4. Wow, you are on a wonderful adventure ~ building a family is a beautiful thing, and the nurturing of these precious boys is a calling. God bless and keep you through each day and each challenge!
